A Note from Coach Peter:

Dear Sea Serpent Family,

I was asked to send a brief note to the HSS organization concerning our beloved "Wattsy".  As a shock like this hits us all with such force... we find ourselves asking "why?"  What happened, was she sick before, why didn't she get saved like the hockey player?  What can I do for the family?  Who can I go see?

I've heard many, many questions these last 24 hours.  Many will go unanswered and will be difficult to deal with.  As the funeral arrangements have already been posted, I'm sure the news has been throughout the entire team, right?

Well actually, there are some who may not have heard because they are out of town for the Holiday.  Please be kind and gentle if they are just hearing... remember your shock at first.

As for our children... hug them! Hug them a lot!  Hold them and tell them how special they are.  Choose to tell them in your own way what they need to know and don't be surprised if it's hard on both of you.  The younger ones may not understand.  I don't even understand it to be quite honest with you.  It was George and Laurie's 24th wedding anniversary yesterday... that's what I mean about not understanding.  I can't begin to imagine their pain.

They need our support, our prayers, and our promise to honor
Mackenzie's life!  We lost a true friend and a great spirit... an example of what a great kid is all about.  We need to make sure that bright light of a smile lives on in our team and our lives.  Share that light with others... 'cause Wattsy would want it that way.  And trust me... she's watching from a very high place with a very bright smile.

Warmly... and with teary eyes,

Coach Peter

Notes from the Swimming Community:

Doreen,

We are so sorry to hear about Mackenzie.  No words can describe the sorrow we feel for her family and the community.

Take care,

Sean & Megan - Brighton swim team

Doreen and Howell Sea Serpent Swim Team:

We would like to send our Team condolences for the loss of your former swimmer, student and community member. It was terrible to hear about the death, and it touched us all very deeply.  I believe no matter where you swim, swimmers become distant family.  Please pass our Thoughts and Prayers on to your team, The Family and The Howell Community.

Sincerely,

Tammy Taylor and The DCAC Swim Team

Doreen,

I’m very saddened to hear of such news.  My heart goes out to family and friends of Mackenzie's.  Have a happy thanksgiving and may God bless you and yours.

Marty Spees

Doreen:

Our condolences go out to your community and swim teams.  It is always difficult to loose a child suddenly for no good reasons.  Please send our blessings to the family.

Sincerely:

John Czyrka and The Saline Stingrays

Doreen,

I can't even begin to imagine the pain and sorrow felt by you and the Sea Serpents at this time.  You are in our thoughts and prayers.

God Bless,

Tami Cain & the Coaches & swimmers of the Hartland Hurricanes
